What kind of music do you guys listen to?

Musical tastes reveal so much about our mind states, imagination, personality....
Music is really therpeutic for me. What kind of feeling does it bring for you, and does it help with your creative process? :)

  • @Simon Eltringham Wow. That sounds cool! What do you do? Will check this out too. I do listen to music from other cultures too; mainly from Spotify and Youtube. But music from differant eras is something I need to do more of! Thanks for your response! :)
  • In my line of work, I listen to absolutely everything, if you're after some unusual music sources though https://radiooooo.com/ is a fun site to explore for music from across the world and from specific eras.
  • @Toni Alli I'm similiar. It all depends on my mood tbh. I agree, it can be stagnant to just listen to the same genres/artists. Branching out can help to be flexible with your thinking too! The effect it has on the mind is fascinating.
I've written something about this for my website (still not launched)!
I've never heard of The Deftones or The Silhouettes Project, I'll definitely check them out!
Thank you for sharing your insight. I wish you the best with your creative endeavours. Godspeed. :)
  • I listen to a range of different genres, punk, rock, rap, funk, rnb. Literally whatever sounds good, the first artists I listened to and felt connections with were Beyoncé and JLS, after that I dove into soul/neo soul music with artists like Jorja Smith, Erykah Badu, Lauryn Hill etc. and my taste developed from there, I feel as though not branching out musically is so limiting, there’s so much out there to discover. Normally when creating, I have a playlist I listen to which includes artists such as Destroy Lonely, Beyoncé, Frank Ocean, Deftones, Skepta, The Silhouettes Project and a lot more. Their music is so calming and inspiring and the different genres enable me to dig deeper into what i’m creating, to try different styles, materials or cuts. :)
