What skills should I list on my profile beyond the hands-on creative skills I have demonstrated in my portfolio? I.e. painting/drawing

I'm a Designer/Artist with years of experience in Print Design, Illustration and hand-painting for events, but I want to move into a different type of role - something that doesn't necessarily utilise my drawing and design skills, but that uses my creative thinking.

I'm so used to just turning up to work and painting the things asked of me, but I miss using my brain and solving problems, designing concepts and organising tasks/people/projects!
I need to know how to demonstrate this in my applications, CV, profile etc.
Thank you!

  • How about the things you mentioned in your question, 'solving problems', 'designing concepts' and 'organising'? They're all really valuable skills and if you can back them up with examples that's amazing! :)

Also, if you have a university degree / diploma etc. if you find your course on the university/college website (or a course that is most similar to the course you studied, as they often change their course content / course names etc!) it will describe to persepctive students what the course will cover, what they will study / learn / achieve on the course and what skills they will develop - and therefore these are all skills / techniques that you will already have! :)

I'm not an expert, but hope this helps even a little bit! Good luck! :)
