Description
We need a designer or visual artist to work with us for 5 days in September and October to produce engaging work informed by workshops and volunteer participation within London's Chinatown. You'll be helping to create materials that will be used in a portable exhibition display that provide a creative response to conversations on London Chinatown, including covid-19's impact on people's lives in and around this neighbourhood.
What we are looking for:
We are looking for an artist with an established, engaging and accessible visual arts practice, who has the ability to engage with community members on a sensitive topic
This opportunity is open to designers and artists with the right to work in the UK and are of East Asian or Southeast Asian heritage and/or who share close ties to London Chinatown
Someone who is interested in the history and culture of London’s Chinatown, the impact of COVID-19 on Chinatown and is willing to build a relationship with the communities
Someone with demonstrable experience of the cultural and/or linguistic needs of London Chinatown
Must be available to attend our heritage day on Sunday, 25th September 2022 to observe in the workshops as an inspiration and basis to creating the final work.
The work needs to be completed before the end of October
