Would like advice on how to start getting into Product Design? Any tips/websites/programmes/webinars I could look at?
I'm currently a graphic designer having had experience primarily with print, and only a couple of years ago got into digital design. I create work for social media and web assets but designing websites/apps is something I really am interested in getting into, but not entirely sure where to start.
I've had a small experience with Adobe XD, but wondered if there's any tips/websites/programmes/webinars I could look at to help me get inspiration, or just general rules and tips when designing websites and the user experience.
Any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks!
Celia

- @Larisa Escobar Brilliant, thanks Larisa! :)
- Hello @Celia ColesGreat that you want to start with product design. I'd recommend to get a Figma account, it's free, and start there. There's a lot of tutorials and materials online, even Figma has a lot of resources to get you started! Here's an intro to Figma https://learnux.io/course/figma/intro-to-figmaGood luck! :)
- @Emer Boothman Wow, thanks for all of this Emer!Yes, I've heard about Figma as my partner uses it (she's a developer). Would you recommend that over XD then? Is Whimsical also the same? Thanks!C
- @Lidia Lesiak Thank you, Lidia, much appreciated!
- Definitely check out Open Learn (part of The Open University) they offer loads of free courses! Hope this helps! :)

- Though I note that his personal website is insecure. It probably does matter for that site, but it's bad practice in the modern world.https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/analyze.html?d=ransegall.com
- Here is a link to the Ran Segall Web Design course mentioned below.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C72WkcUZvco&list=PLXC_gcsKLD6n7p6tHPBxsKjN5hA_quaPI
- @Spencer Ayres This is amazing, and definitely looks like a good place to start! Thanks so much Spencer!
- Hi Celia,Great question & I personally think this is a great future direction for anyone.A few things come to mind -1. Nothing beats creating projects of your own. You’ll learn so much by just getting stuck into a project of your own. But that’s hard to do, so here’s some other places...2. Flux on YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/c/FluxWithRanSegall. Ran Segall has loads of stuff on his YouTube but also has courses too. It’s pretty good3. I’ve never used this but it looks amazing - https://learnux.io/ especially for UX/UI tools etcThere’s loads more, but don’t want to bombard you too much :)Hope this helpsSpen
