Would love some insight and help “PR” wise for a charity book that’s not getting the traction it needs?

  • @Simon Palmer Good question. I literally joined The...Dots this week, I guess sending you a connect request - done - and setting up a call? Though I see no reason not to share my number - 07708 712011
  • @Honey McKenna forgive me for reiterating the same reply I gave to someone else he replied but it made sense as you both asked the same questions and made the same observations!! I have actually tried contacting local papers local journalists local BBC news both radio and TV and met with either a stubborn silence or indifference! I think at the time that I contacted them we were in the midst of lockdown 2 and they were preoccupied with making the world seem like a very bad place! Sadly I have very little experience of PR work and have no budget to afford a PR person, especially right now as I guess many people are in the same situation.

  • Happy to have a chat, that might help with a pointer or two.
  • Hi Simon! I’d definitely recommend going to local press about it, local titles and radio are ever so slightly “easier” to get into than your big nationals and have a solid audience. I’d also recommend identifying titles and maybe even journalists that write about the topic/area the book is about and pitch it to them and the wider cause it’s for. Good luck!
  • Have you tried local radio? I had a project to promote a couple of months ago, sent a few emails out and had a few features on local stations and the regional BBC station! Depends on what kind of book I suppose, but what about an Instagram ad, if you have the budget for it? What have you tried so far?
