Franco Stevens on new documentary Ahead of the Curve and the power of lesbian visibility and community from the early 90s to the present day

About this event
The most influential lesbian in history you might not have heard of.

In celebration of Pride this month, hear the founder of Curve and one of the most influential women in lesbian history Franco Stevens discuss her incredible story and work to amplify LGBTQ+ women’s history and culture.

This month sees the release of Jen Rainin and Rivkah Beth Medow’s award-winning documentary Ahead of the Curve, a behind the scenes look at the power of lesbian visibility and community from the early ‘90s to the present day through the story of Franco’s founding of Curve magazine.

What started with a fistfull of credit cards, a lucky run at the track and a drive to connect the community became the most successful lesbian magazine of all time.

The filmmakers have set up The Curve Foundation to ensure that its legacy lives on, empowering queer women, trans women and nonbinary people to keep telling their stories.
