Releasing music is easier than ever before. But that doesn’t tell the whole story. With so many tools at your fingertips there’s an expectation that you have to master everything. About our Artist Mentors
Roxanne de Bastion

To describe London-based singer-songwriter Roxanne de Bastion as a pioneering DIY artist does little justice to the hefty list of accomplishments and accolades she’s assembled in her very busy life. Her entrepreneurial spirit has been evident since she moved from her native Berlin to London aged 19 to pursue a career in music. Over 600 shows later, after a self-released debut album (2017’s Heirlooms and Hearsay), tours with Martha Wainwright, Lambchop and Marillion and performances at Glastonbury and Cambridge Folk festival, 2021 saw the release of her second album You & Me, We Are The Same. The album was produced by the legendary Bernard Butler, who jumped at the chance to work with Roxanne after she had simply emailed him a demo. As Bernard says “some cold calls turn into beautiful projects… I think we created something emotional and special”.

BISHI

BISHI is an artist, composer, producer, performer and technologist, of Bengali heritage. Born in London, she is a multi-instrumentalist trained in both Hindustani and Western Classical styles and studied the sitar under Gaurav Mazumdar, a senior disciple of Ravi Shankar. BISHI has independently released three albums and several EPs on her own label, Gryphon Records, to critical acclaim.

She has collaborated with Tony Visconti, Sean Ono Lennon, Jarvis Cocker, Daphne Guinness, the London Symphony Orchestra, The Kronos Quartet, fashion designer Manish Arora and as a soloist on Jonny Greenwood’s ‘Water,’ with City of London Sinfonia, who have also performed her orchestral music.

Shao Dow

Shao Dow (sha-ow-dough) is an award-winning rapper, manga author andoccasional ninja.

After studying Shaolin Kung Fu with the monks whilst living in China, he utilised the tenacity and determination learnt from his martial arts training to independently forge his music career.

Known to rap in both English and Japanese, Shao is hard to define as just a regular artist.

He constantly blurs the lines between anime, gaming, martial arts and his own music and has worked with icons such as Sean Schemmel (voice of Goku – Dragon Ball Z) and featured on the first single from Tech N9ne’s ‘Asin9ne’ album. He also wrote an original track for the popular video game Fortnite’s ‘Mega City’ season update.
