Overview: BE YOURSELF: A Photography Master Class with Bruce Gilden

This five-day intensive workshop, led by legendary Magnum photographer Bruce Gilden, takes students out of their comfort zone with the aim of identifying each participant’s personal working ‘style’ for photography.
Gilden, famous for his in-your-face street portraiture, and with more than fifty years worth of photography experience, will set personal assignments that will be provide the opportunity to photograph throughout the workshop while receiving daily, constructive feedback to define and understand your personal vision.
Open to both passionate amateurs and professionals, students will learn how to improve their images and how to be ‘street smart’ in various shooting environments - These principles are necessary to work in any environment and to be in the middle of the scenario without being obtrusive.
This is a rare opportunity to learn from the master himself.

13:30pm GMT Onwards: Students expected to go out and shoot their individual assignments

Requirements of each participant in advance of the workshop:
Pre-class assignment:
Shoot either 50 digital images or 2 rolls of film in an area or a situation where you are comfortable working in, and 50 digital images (or 2 rolls of film) somewhere else where you are not comfortable working in.
You will be expected to show no more than 5 images.
First day assignment:
In addition to the pre-class assignment, participants must bring no more than 20 of your best photos, ones that are indicative of your style (they do NOT have to be “street” photographs).
Who Should Attend:
This workshop is open to all levels of photographer who are keen to grow their skill set.
Limited to 12 Students.
*A Leica Camera is not required for this class. Students must have a competent operational knowledge of their camera. An assortment of Leica Cameras will be available on loan at no further cost for the duration of the workshop (please see T&C's).
