This is an online event
This event is part of the MA Academic Practice in Art, Design and Communication Research Methods seminar series.

The ethos of decolonising social design practice drives Deem Journal, which has found a receptive audience since its launch in April 2020 at the start of the pandemic. The first issue on ‘Designing for Dignity’ has been followed by the current theme, ‘Pedagogy For A New World’.
Produced in the US but multi-perspectival with contributions and concerns from around the world, Deem's critical take on design is expressed through its celebration of diverse design practices and voices.
Like all pioneering magazines, what makes Deem so exciting is how it generates an unexpected community of readers through its conversations, stories and voices. Deem's methodology is captured in its aims: "ask what design can do for communities by creating conversations that are transdisciplinary and intergenerational."

Join us to hear Deem’s Editorial Director/co-founder Alice Grandoit-Sutka and Creative Director/co-founder Nu Goteh discuss Deem Journal’s methodology of knowledge production through design, social practice and publishing.
