Join us for an evening with the award-winning novelist Colm Tóibín.

Tóibín’s new essay collection, A Guest at the Feast, ranges from personal memoir to observations on religion, literature and politics. He writes about growing up in Ireland during a time of radical change, travelling in Venice and Buenos Aires, his admiration for writers like John McGahern and Marilynne Robinson, and includes an extraordinary essay on his cancer diagnosis.
Tóibín is the bestselling author of two short story collections and 10 novels. They include Brooklyn, Nora Webster and The Empty Family, set in his home town of Enniscorthy; two novels about the lives of novelists Henry James (The Master) and Thomas Mann (The Magician) and House of Names, a retelling of a classic Greek tragedy.
Join him for a wide-ranging conversation with Guardian writer Alex Clark about popes, Irish history, travelling during the pandemic and more as he shares some of the influences and experiences that have shaped his writing. He’ll also be answering your questions in this livestreamed event.
