Dialled In is proud to present the peerless Pakistani band, Jaubi.
Announced off the back of their groundbreaking Boiler Room Pakistan show as well as Dialled In's successfully sold-out April show, Jaubi will be coming to the UK for the first-time ever to perform.
After making their name by reinterpreting hip-hop artists like J Dilla, MF Doom and Nas with traditional classical instrumentation, Pakistani ensemble Jaubi have added to their distinct mode of expression by going back to their roots. Their usual offering of crafting beats with bravado has been replaced with an introspective, almost ambient-like music, which cleanses the surrounding energy, ridding the atmosphere of any nearby djinn.
Jaubi will be joined on stage by London’s multi-instrumentalist and 22a Record label boss Ed “Tenderlonious” Cawthorne and Polish pianist/composer Marek “Latarnik” Pędziwiatr of EABS/Błoto where the group will perform Nafs at Peace and Ragas From Lahore, both of which were recorded together back in Lahore, Pakistan during 2019. These albums have collectively been praised by Rolling Stone and Pitchfork, with Nafs at Peace being named as one of the top albums of 2021 by The Guardian, and Bandcamp.
Australian improviser, composer and bassist Horatio Luna from the 30/70 collective and Ruby Rushton’s drummer Tim Carnegie will be featured as additional special guests.
Audiences can expect to hear ragas mixed with jazz and funk.
Come experience a show like no other.
This is an all ages event.
