Can Wales get to Net Zero by 2035?
The world is experiencing the disastrous impacts of the climate crisis and is currently off track to avert further impacts. Leading scientists recently issued what they called “our final warning”. In response, the Welsh Government and Plaid Cymru have jointly invited an independent group - the Wales Net Zero Challenge Group - to explore how the country can speed up its transition to net zero, and how amending its target to 2035 from 2050 could be made possible.
In both its goals and ways of working, the Group is operating through the lens of the Wellbeing of Future Generations Act, seeking potentially transformative pathways to accelerate a transition to net zero that is both just and nature-positive.
In this RSA webinar, Jane Davidson and Stan Townsend will share insights into the key challenge areas being addressed by the Group, from food and energy security to rural livelihoods and economic opportunity for all.
We’re at a crucial time for the Wales Net Zero 2035 Challenge Group and this event is an opportunity to share your feedback and ask your questions about the future of their work.
*Please note this event is online only via Zoom Webinar. Please register for the event and a link to access the webinar will be emailed to you in advance.*
