Do your colleagues ever speak over you in meetings? Do you find it hard to ask for a pay rise, a holiday day or simply the resources needed to deliver on your job? When working on group projects do your ideas get scrapped or steamrolled over? Do you sometimes bite your tongue instead of having your say? If you answered yes to any of these questions, chances are you need to be more assertive in work.

Internal meetings are so important in the workplace, and as we all find our level in them, it is an indicator to senior leaders present, of your comfort and ability in your role, or the company. And in a meeting with a customer or a client where you need to negotiate, being able to handle it could make or break a deal.

If you are unable to assert yourself during a meeting, you will walk away from each and every one without getting the results and outcome you need from it. Meetings can be stressful, with a lot of voices and opinions, some of them stronger than others. However, there are strategies you can use to bring your best self to the table, create a memorable impact and make the meeting work to your advantage.

Plenty of people are nervous about speaking up in the workplace, and even if you’re not nervous, you might still find it difficult to get the attention, impact or results you want around a crowded table (or Zoom screen!). However, the good news is that there are proven methods which you can learn and put into practice which are guaranteed to improve your presence and impact from the very next meeting you attend. By learning some communication skills and applying a few tweaks you will be able to communicate more easily, handle conflict more smoothly and grow and expand your personal presence and impact.

This event is taking place live from Dublin, Ireland. Please calculate the time difference if joining from elsewhere.

This event is open to both our Iconic members and non-members.
