For 14 of the past 45 years of International Women’s Day, Hira Ali, leadership expert and successful entrepreneur, has created events to get March 8th into the hearts and minds of men and women around the world. From South-east Asia to Middle East and Europe, as Hira Ali has moved from country to country in her career, so too has her drive for all that IWD stands for. This year, the IWD theme is #EachForEqual, which is a perfect fit for Hira Ali’s book, Her Way To The Top, which celebrates its first anniversary with a new sub-title: A Guide To Smashing The Glass Ceiling.

Event Schedule

6:30-6:50 pm: Welcome drinks
6:50-7:00 pm: Live poll for the participants (facilitated by a moderator)
Take an online poll on the top internal and external challenges holding you back (Her Way To The Top style) You can access the poll and participate via your smartphone. The results will be revealed and discussed there and then. Attendees will also get a chance to post questions on the same link which can be addressed by the panel and Hira herself during the course of the event.
7:00- 7:30 pm: Talk by Hira Ali
Discussion on interesting facts discovered during research of Her Way To The Top such as how internal challenges are triggered by social conditioning, how most internal challenges are inter- related, difference in challenges faced by the western and eastern women, women in minority owing to background, gender, orientation and preferences. What were her own unique internal challenges when writing the book and her top strategies to address them?
7:30- 8:10: Q&A and discussion led by Hira Ali with a panel of distinguished guests from media, government & private sector.
8:10- 8:30: Closing/ Networking/ Book signing

Who Is The Event For:
Working Women and Men who are interested in becoming aware of the roadblocks impacting women on their way to the top and how they can support. Participants will walk away with simple yet actionable steps they can take to support the Each for Equal theme this year.

She has recently won Highly Commended women in media award sponsored by Microsoft at the prestigious win trade awards. In her recently published book Her Way to the Top: The Glass Ceiling is Thicker Than It Looks, she highlights the internal and external road blocks impeding a woman’s climb to the top irrespective of her culture and geography.
