The Monty Python veteran Michael Palin will join us, live in London and online, as he introduces the much-anticipated fourth volume of his celebrated diaries
It’s the dawn of a new millennium – and a new chapter for Michael Palin unfolds. In this latest addition to his diaries, Palin revisits the years 1999 to 2009 and takes us backstage on the most productive and reflective decade of his life. With warmth and gentle empathy, we watch through his eyes as the world is buffeted by powerful winds of change. And amid this turbulence, his curiosity and thirst for adventure remain constant.
Join him as he meets with the Observer’s features writer Miranda Sawyer to discuss his latest memoir, and reflect on a new millennium, grief, the filming of his four blockbuster travel documentaries and embarking on his greatest adventure yet: becoming a grandfather.
Palin has written and starred in numerous TV programmes and films, from Monty Python and Ripping Yarns, to The Missionary and The Death of Stalin. He has also written two novels and several nonfiction books about his odysseys. He received a Bafta fellowship in 2013, and a knighthood in the 2019 New year honours list.
You can join this event in-person at King’s Place, London, N1, or via the livestream. Tickets are £32 to attend the event, or £15 to watch it online. See tickets for further details.
