Throughout the pandemic, disabled people, employees, employers, trade unions, researchers and others have been learning fast about the potential for more flexible, inclusive work, and about the formidable challenges of job loss and business change. Policy makers from different countries have engaged in planning how to meet those opportunities and challenges.

In this event, there will be short presentations from speakers who are setting out to address some key issues. Our speakers include:

  • Jennifer Sheehy, Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP), U.S. Department of Labor. The new US administration is planning implementation of its disability plan.
  • Wilfried Kainz, Head of Research at The Zero Project. The Zero Project recently identified 10 policies and 72 practices internationally on inclusive employment and ICT.
  • Christopher Prinz, Senior Policy Analyst, Skills and Employability Division, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). The OECD is updating its analysis of disability, sickness and employment in OECD countries.

The speakers’ presentations will be interspersed with small group breakout discussions and plenary feedback, in which we welcome you to contribute your own thoughts and learnings. We plan to share key points that arise in a follow-up article for the RSA website.

This event is led by the RSA Fellow-led Inclusive Work, Disability and Ageing Network, which aims to bring together people from different perspectives and backgrounds to explore and progress an inclusive future of work. This is a key area of focus for the RSA – the RSA Future of Work programme aims to make sure that everyone, regardless of background or starting point, can pursue good work in this age of technological change.

We welcome all who are interested from anywhere in the world, within and beyond our RSA Fellowship community.
