As an architect, educator and theorist, Kengo Kuma is constantly in search of new materials and structural forms to replace concrete and steel for post-industrial society. Kuma will discuss the research undertaken for the design of Bamboo (竹) Ring: Weaving into Lightness, which combines bamboo and carbon fibre in an innovative structure, as well as his material explorations of ancient, natural and sustainable materials.
