🌟Topic: Not Another Diversity Event
“Not Another Diversity Event’ is kind of a double entendre – in that we feel there have been so many recently but all a bit samey and not much to take away. It also indicates that this event will be different – there is no rigid structure, people won’t be being ‘talked at’ and it is an intimate setting of 40 people.
Our aim is to look at diversity from all angles through a ‘Fishbowl’ conversation, whereby audience members are encouraged to take part alongside selected speakers to discuss various topics such as how underrepresented groups can get into tech and how people can be allies at work and in life 🤝
While things have improved in recent years, there is still a lot of work to be done when it comes to improving diversity within the tech industry. The statistics speak for themselves: women still only make up 19% of the tech workforce, and shockingly, those from ethnic minority backgrounds only 15%.
The aim of Women Rock is to amplify the voices of underrepresented groups, and we are thrilled to be able to do that through this event.
We have four more amazing speakers who will be speaking for their underrepresented groups like the LGBTQ+ community, BAME and women in tech so we feel we’ve got the makings of a great rounded conversation! 💙
