Learn how to draw people in the context of their environment in this online art class.
Start your Saturday creatively with this online art class. Working from a life model and inspired by the interiors at the Royal Academy, artist Adele Wagstaff will teach you how to draw people and contextualise them in their environment. Not only will you draw the human form, you will also learn how to draw the background around them to create a seamless composition.
Our Saturday Sketch Clubs are a series of online monthly art classes led by artists. Whether you're a beginner or a practicing artist, these live-streamed classes are designed for everyone. Sessions take place online via a live webinar. Attendees will be sent a link to join the webinar closer to the time.
Share your work with the online Sketch Club community by posting your drawings to Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #RASketchClub or join our Facebook group to connect with other participants.
Adele Wagstaff has been shortlisted for the Jerwood Drawing Prize and the BP Portrait Award, and her work has been exhibited in the National Portrait Gallery, Royal West of England Academy and the Canadian Portrait Academy. Following her graduation from the Slade School of Art, where she focused on working from the nude in sustained poses, her practice continues to look at the human figure and still life.
For this class, all you will need is a pencil, paper and a rubber.
If you have any accessibility needs, please contact public.programmes@royalacademy.org.uk.
