In its second edition, Signs of Life pens its love letter in an homage to the mass exodus of Caribbean migrants to England.

About this event
This exhibition 'Signs of Life' finds its second iteration in Sarabande Foundation, as jeweller Mairi Millar traces the mystery of Parakeets flocking to London, their subsequent adaptability to a different ecosystem and their similarity to that of the Windrush Generation. First shown in Trinidad, and much like the migration of which Mairi speaks to, this jewellery exhibition takes flight once more.
Mairi Millar is a Trinidadian artist based in London. Born in Trinidad & Tobago, her work explores the beauty of nature’s discarded and “collaborating with chance,” creating works from found natural objects. Primarily through the language of jewellery, these forgotten or finished objects are elevated to the state of a relic.
Mairi Millar is an alum of The Rhode Island School of Design (2018) and The Royal College of Art (2021). She was awarded a residency (2021-22) at the Sarabande Foundation established by Lee Alexander Mcqueen.
Signs of Life: London is curated by Trinidadian curator/writer Zarna Hart, fellow alumni of The Royal College of Art (2023)
