Talks: Eco Exchanges

Listen to short talks from environmental experts as they discuss all things climate and culture. Hosted by climate communicator and scientist Matthew Shribman.

19.00 – 19.30: Environmental Activism: Join Kajal Odedra, author of Do Something; Activism For Everyone, and Global Communications Director for Change.org. They will also be joined by organiser, educator and strategist Guppi Bola.

21.00 – 21.30: Sustainable Fashion: Join sustainability specialist Justine Porterie, global head of sustainability at Depop, to discuss circular economy and fashion’s future with Josephine Philips, founder and CEO of @sojo_app, and Christopher Raeburn, creative director of RÆBURN and global creative director of Timberland.

Installation: Emilija Škarnulytė – Eternal Return
South Tanks, Blavatnik Building, Level 0
Emilija Skarnulyte's video installation Eternal Return meditates on current science and technologies around deep-sea mining and ocean mapping. It dives deep into time, from the cosmic and geologic, to the ecological and political. Explore places and the invisible structures hidden deep down under sea levels.

Talks & Tastings: Tap Takeover with Toast Ale & Music from Global Roots
Terrace Bar, Blavatnik Building, Level 1
Tate Eats presents the return of Tap Takeover, in collaboration with Toast Ale. It is also the launch of the Toast Ale Companion Series. The series is a unique collaboration of 26 beers all brewed with surplus bread. Alongside meeting all the brewers, hear from Tristram Stuart, co-founder of Toast Ale, at 20.00 on the social impacts of food. Enjoy a DJ set from Thristian, plus take part in Toast’s quiz for your chance to win a pint. Try the new beers, join the conversation around foodie futures and hear how Toast work towards sustainable food supply.

Workshop: Pour Decisions with Sam Ayre and Claire Ratinon
Blavatnik Building, Level 2
This illustration workshop asks big questions about small acts for the environment. Sam Ayre and Claire Ratinon (re)use discarded items from Tate Modern. The workshop invites you to reflect on use and reuse.

Workshop: Climate Club – Climate Change Speed Dating with Adapt
Blavatnik Building, Level 5
The original Climate Club with Adapt heads to Tate. Join their people’s pledge and climate speed-dating extravaganza. With music and special guest duo Alan and Ron.

Workshop: Upcycling with The Forest Recycling Project
Blavatnik Building, Level 6
Drop in to learn more about upcycling and create your own weavings and banners and badges. The workshop is led by The Forest Recycling Project team’s artist in residence Elizabeth Salazar. You will be using discarded and reclaimed waste textiles and materials.

Screening: New Mineral Collective – Pleasure Prospects & Emilija Škarnulytė – Sirenomelia

Catch a double screening of New Mineral Collective's Pleasure Prospects and Sirenomelia. Introduced by Tanya Busse and Emilija Škarnulytė’s Sirenomelia. The screening coincides with Škarnulytė's installation Eternal Return in the South Tanks.

Talk: Beuys, Acorns and the Climate Emergency

Join artists Ackroyd & Harvey, musician Fay Milton (Savages, Music Declares Emergency) and invited special guests as they delve into Beuys’ Acorns. The installation of 100 oak trees on Tate Modern's South Terrace. They discuss the role arts, culture and activism can play in facing the climate emergency.

Workshop: Don’t Despair, Just Repair with The Restart Project

Join short demo sessions to find out about the critical raw materials inside your phone and why we should use our phones for longer. The Restart Project is a people-powered social enterprise that aims to fix our relationship with electronics.
