Join artist Ekta Kaul for a kantha embroidery workshop.
Kantha is a beautiful stitch technique typical of Bangladesh and West Bengal, with a rich heritage rooted in storytelling and upcycling. Used fabrics are layered, embroidered and repurposed into textiles for function or display.

During this workshop Ekta will introduce you to a small selection of fundamental kantha stitches through a step-by-step demonstration and share the cultural context of kantha textiles in Bengal. Materials will be provided or you can bring along a textile to work on. This workshop is suitable for beginners and tickets cost £15.

All ticket sales will be donated to the Somerset House Young Talent Fund. This provides bursaries and financial relief to artists, as well as opportunities for under-represented people aged 18-25 seeking to get into the creative sector.
