Join an afternoon of creative writing with poet, writer and performer Fausta Joly to produce your own little fictions and poetry inspired by encounters with the exhibition Ai Weiwei: Making Sense.

What to expect
Join poet, performer and producer Fausta Joly in this creative writing workshop inspired by a visit to the exhibition 'Ai Weiwei: Making Sense'.
Creative writing is a powerful tool for self-expression, helping us make sense of the world, it can provide comfort or operate as an act of resistance.
Drawing on objects and ideas in the exhibition, Joly will encourage enquiry and reflection, explore literary devices and playful approaches to support you to create a collection of original short written pieces.
Across three sections of the exhibition – Evidence, Construction/Destruction and Ordinary Things – Ai explores material culture, value systems and associated notions of progress, loss, power and identity.
The exhibition guide starts with a poem by the artist's father, Ai Qing, widely regarded as one of the finest modern Chinese poets.
