THE ROLE
An exciting new opportunity to help shape and implement our web strategy supporting the Director of Digital and Head of Digital, working on the BAFTA & Emmy Award winning animated TV series, Bluey.
The role will lead on delivering enhanced web content and experiences to deepen fandom and to deliver both direct and indirect commercial return – ensuring the highest creative and editorial standards with adherence to BBC guidelines.
This role will also be responsible for coordinating with senior stakeholders outside of the digital team - including product, commercial, marketing, audience data and production teams.
The role is part of the Digital Division of BBC Studios.
Day to Day
  • To provide leadership and editorial oversight for all aspects of website content production and features development. This includes leading on commissioning and helping to deliver on the audience growth strategy.
  • Editorial oversight of website publishing activity ensuring alignment to overall brand and genre priorities.
  • Working with the product and development teams to provide editorial leadership on product development
  • Lead, motivate and support freelance content producers, ensuring that the editorial vision is communicated and understood from planning through to delivery.
  • Provide editorial expertise and direction on website projects and campaigns ensuring creative solutions are aligned to strategy & brief – working with the Director of Digital and Director of Product.
  • Ensure commercial and partner plans are translated into clear web strategies.
  • Provide forward-planning content plans to commercial teams, and add editorial input into branded content commissioning
  • Digital content commissioning to meet KPIs and revenue targets.
  • Lead on KPI setting, aligning with Director of Digital on genre and department objectives.
  • Oversee content optimisations and learnings with Senior Programming Manager and Senior Execs.
WHAT DOES IT TAKE?
Key Criteria
  • Excellent editorial judgement with significant experience of producing, commissioning and curating web content.
  • Able to lead the team to develop creative ideas which engage diverse audiences in a demanding creative environment.
  • Experience of influencing, negotiating and communicating effectively both internally and with external agencies/partners.
  • Experience devising strategic digital plans with a commercial focus including measurable KPIs and revenue.
  • Acute attention to detail and ability to identify improvements.
  • Significant experience of building and engaging online audiences.
Desirables
  • Experience of leading a content team and managing freelance producers to meet editorial goals and deadlines.
  • Demonstrable experience of commissioning content for different audiences and developing editorial strands and formats.
  • Sound editorial judgement and a thorough knowledge of editorial and legal guidelines.
  • Highly developed planning and organising skills. Ability to manage several areas of work at one time, prioritising, delivering consistently to deadlines and reacting positively to changes and conflicting priorities.
  • Proven experience of taking ideas from concept to finished product whilst driving forward creativity.
  • Able to lead the team to develop creative ideas which engage diverse audiences in a demanding creative environment.
  • Experience in tracking data trends and implementing a test and learn approach.
  • Strong copywriting and subbing skills are essential.

PACKAGE DESCRIPTION
  • Job Reference: 18974
  • Band: E
  • Salary: £55,000- £65,000 + London Weighting (£5,319) + 15% depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
  • Contract type: Permanent Role.
  • Location: This is a hybrid role and the successful candidate will balance office working with home working. Office Base is London, Television Centre.
