We have an exciting opportunity for a Corporate Communications Manager FTC to join the Communications team on a fixed term basis from July 1st 2024
This role maintains and enhances UKTV’s reputation in the industry through strategic communication with the media and industry stakeholders. It works with teams and senior executives across the business to identify and amplify strategic company news and supports the internal corporate narrative.
In this role you will get to:
  • You will help shape and build UKTV’s business narrative and drive its reputation forward in the media industry
  • You will get the chance to work with the Executive Leadership Team and senior stakeholders across the business to identify news stories and interview opportunities
  • You will draft high level communications, briefing notes, scripts and lines against enquiry
We are looking for someone who has:
  • Solid corporate PR experience of working with or within the television / media industry
  • Proven ability to identify and publicise news stories
  • The ability to deal with complex problems such as negative media stories and adept at writing crisis comms plans and lines against enquiry
  • Strong broadcast and creative trade contacts and national media contacts
  • Excellent writing ability
  • Excellent IT and social media skills.

  • Manages multiple projects concurrently requiring excellent organisation and co-ordination skills
  • Ability to forge an understanding of UKTV and BBC Studios overarching strategy and how the role contributes towards it
  • Excellent negotiator, presenter, influencer and relationship manager with ability to build, maintain and nurture B2B and B2C relationships
  • A team player who can harness team spirit across UKTV and relevant BBC Studios departments and develop strong relationships with key business areas and executives
  • A genuine passion for TV

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with UKTV Director of Communications to create and implement a communications strategy that builds and enhances UKTV’s reputation in the broadcast market and supports the main pillars of the company’s business strategy
  • Translate UKTV’s purpose, strategy and positioning in compelling ways for the media and other influencers
  • Work with UKTV Director of Communications on crisis media issues and help draft lines against enquiry
  • Deputise for UKTV Director of Communications on corporate issues when necessary
  • Work closely with the Executive Leadership Team to identify suitable media stories and communicate key business news
  • Build profiles of senior spokespeople and identify, secure and manage suitable speaker / interview opportunities and develop key messages
  • Work with UKTV Director of Communications to media train UKTV spokespeople as and when needed
  • Organise and manage corporate related media events and sponsorships
  • Support and collaborate with Head of Internal Communications, ensuring both internal and external communications work in tandem
  • Identify and draft UKTV corporate news announcements, interviews and authored features
  • Be responsible for the presentation of UKTV corporate PR campaigns, and weekly trade updates
  • Be responsible for management of UKTV’s online corporate profile through corporate uktv.co.uk and ensure all relevant corporate news is creatively tweeted via the @UKTV_Press twitter feed
  • Run UKTV’s CEO’s social media accounts
  • Ensure internal stakeholders are kept up-to-date with relevant UKTV media coverage and industry news.
  • Keep ahead of publicity and communications trends and ensure campaigns are of an innovative standard
  • Follow UKTV’s financial procedures ensuring all supplier agreements and payments are processed within company guidelines
  • Live, embrace and role model UKTV’s values
  • Act as an ambassador for the UKTV network as a whole and BBCS
  • Works with all UKTV to foster a spirit of teamwork and co-operation
