Description

The Focus of the Role:
The main objective of this role is to support the Finance Business Partner team in providing meaningful, informed and timely commercial insight to guide business decision making.  The role reports to the London Publishing Senior Finance Business Partner with close working relationships with the finance team, and operational management including Publishers, budget holders and the central Shared Service Centre Team.
Key Responsibilities:
Decision Support (25% of time)
  • Work alongside the Finance Business Partner team & their Publishers to ensure plans are in place to maximise long term profitability
  • Support business to ensure financial benefits identified in budgets and forecasts are delivered
  • Work with content, marketing and advertising teams to ensure full understanding of the required financial performance
  • Gathering of data from SAP S4 Hana to provide financial insight and analysis in supporting recommendations for decision making
Financial Management (40% of time)
  • Provide support to the business around all accounting processes
  • Provide monthly analysis of costs to relevant budget holders
  • Support budget holders in managing spend consciously
  • Effectively monitor, interpret and challenge monthly financial results. Communicate issues, risks, opportunities and trends on a timely basis
  • Provide support and guidance to the business on the use of the purchasing system and the coding of transactions to correct cost centres and GL accounts
  • Review monthly management accounts to ensure completeness and accuracy
Budgeting and Forecasting (25% of time)
  • Input and process/calculation of data into SAC (SAP Analytics Cloud)
  • Support the finance team in delivering timely budgets and forecasts with associated insight and commentary
  • Liaise with relevant stakeholders to develop robust forecasts for costs and revenues where appropriate
  • Review and refine information in the SAC system during budgeting and forecasting
Other (10% of time)
  • Support with providing information for the auditors during audit process
  • Key interface for business with the BCS Central Finance Team
  • Other ad hoc tasks
What You'll Bring:
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work effectively with a wide range of people
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Self-motivation, using initiative to change focus as business priorities change
  • Ability to manage varied workload and tight deadlines
  • Highly numerate with previous accounting experience. Part qualified or newly qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA.
  • Experience of working in a commercial environment would be of benefit
  • Extensive experience in using Excel.
  • Previous experience with SAP S4 Hana and SAC would be an advantage.
