The RSC is looking for a Music Resources Assistant to help provide logistical, technical, and practical support for the Music Resources Coordinator to assist across rehearsals, recordings, and performances at the RSC.  This role is a hands-on, physical role, that requires knowledge of musical instruments and an understanding of live music within a theatre setting.
This role would be ideal for someone looking to develop their knowledge of theatre music practice as you will work closely with production departments, creatives, composers, music directors and musicians to ensure that music is seamlessly integrated throughout the lifecycle of each production.
Reporting to the Music Manager, key areas of responsibility include (please see the full job description and person specification for the comprehensive list):
  • Support the RSC Music Resources Co-Ordinator in responding to requests and enquiries regarding musical equipment and resources.
  • Assist with the preparation of rehearsal and performance spaces and equip with necessary music resources, setting up and striking all such equipment as appropriate.
  • Catalogue music equipment and instrument stock and update the inventory.
  • Identify, acquire & maintain the required equipment for rehearsals, recordings, and
  • Support in facilitating the logistics and transportation of musical equipment.
To be suitable for this role, it is essential that you have the following knowledge and experience:
  • Working knowledge of a wide range of musical genres and
  • Knowledge of industry standard digital music file formats, music typesetting software & file sharing
  • A particular interest in working in the theatre industry, specifically within live music.
  • Full driving license required.
This role is offered as a fixed term, variable contract, for 6 months, working a minimum of 12 hours a week, but this will vary weekly depending on the needs of the department, so flexibility is key. The role is based in Stratford-upon-Avon, with occasional travel to London and our UK partner theatres.
