HERD

Who we are: HERD is a social publishing network that connects ideas and opinions of people in a common community. Our current function is providing a platform which allows students & young people to write articles on matters that are important in their lives. What we do: HERD is an online platform for students and young people to submit written articles on topics that are important in their lives. These articles can be written by anyone, and about anything. We actively believe that students and young people are some of the most passionate, opinionated and well-informed people in our country. The HERD platform has been built so that the views of young people can be heard loud and clear. We are very active on social media, which we use for promoting highlight articles, inspiring our authors with topic suggestions and championing other forms of creative content from within our community, including illustrations, poems and music playlists. Currently, mainstream news on our timeline is unrelatable and uninspiring. Meanwhile, stories within communities continue to go untold; we exist to try and change that. By giving people an accessible platform to write articles and share their opinions, the whole community benefits. From our research, we found that both writers and readers disproportionately value the opinions of people within their social circle over the opinions of mainstream news journalists. HERD exists to satisfy those needs by delivering content that is written by young, enthusiastic people with passionate views on politics, current affairs, culture, sport, lifestyle and more.
