My time as a wildlife photographer brought me to the vast and diverse Amboseli National Park. I learnt that Amboseli in of itself is a dried lake with two smaller permanent lakes that are regularly used by the surrounding animals. Amboseli has a large ecosystem, as well as the massive elephant, hippo, and bird population with a small population of lions and cheetahs. I had the most astounding experience that I have been dreaming of; being in the presence of a large Super Tusker elephant who is named Craig. He resides in the neighbouring conservancy Tawi, a long with serval other very large bull elephants, including the oldest elephant Ganesh who is 62 years old! We had an amazing driver Nixon, who organised someone to take us to see Craig. We also essentially manifested seeing two male lions, who had not been seen in the park for weeks and they showed up the next day! ​ The best part of this trip was it was I had the most surrealistic experience with Craig. The guide we had with us had seen Craig so many times and was very comfortable in his presence. I have always had a special affinity with elephants and I like to believe that our guide felt I would be comfortable in Craigs presence as well. I actually left our vehicle and stood possible less than 2 metres away from Craig. It was a feeling I can only describe as unparalleled. The way in which you feel the sheer calamity of elephants (specifically one as large as Craig) it was borderline spiritual. However I felt so safe beside him. So safe I almost felt like I could sit on the floor and I like to believe he would not have minded.
