7481 MTV, ICEBERG, British Fashion Council competition

My portfolio for the MTV, ICEBERG, British Fashion Council competition which was shortlisted from Leeds Arts university. The launch of MTV in 1981 influenced my research into outer space and the solar system. From my research into the launch of MTV, their platform and creative Strategy I wanted to carry forward an outer space theme. Luxury Italian fashion house Iceberg was founded in 1974 by Silvano Gerani and Giuliana Marchini. Taking the year 1974 as a starting point of my research I began to look into the Italian Space Agency. The San Marco programme was an Italian satellite launch programme conducted between the early 960s and the late 1980s. The San Marco project since 1967 was focused on the launching of scientific satellites by Scout rockets from a mobile rigid platform located close to the equator. Italy launched further satellites in the series (San Marco 1-4). 1974 saw the launch for San Marco 4 where they used the American Scout rockets like the original, but from its own spaceport. Taking numbers from the dates of MTV’s launch, the year Iceberg was founded and the launch of San Marco 4, I came up with 7481. Silhouettes, designs and features have been influenced by the uniform of astronauts especially the high neck and sleeve shape and style.
