My graduate collection ‘A green dream’ is inspired by Amazon deforestation. It is estimated that 80% of Amazon Deforestation is due to the animal agriculture. Fires are deliberately set, for ranchers to gain land for cattle ranching, and the production of leather. I am combating this issue but promoting leather alternatives, such as cork, vegetable dyed waxed organic cotton, and home grown kombucha leather. I have used unconventional materials such as reclaimed balsa wood. From studying the indigenous tribes, I was inspired by the notion of the Amazonian warrior and took silhouette inspiration from ancient armour. The tree stump features throughout my collection through etching and laser cut. It is a warning symbol of the death of nature itself. I hope to inspire designers and consumers alike, to make more sustainable, and ethical choices.
