A Troll's Tale

  • Emma Stevenson

‘A Troll’s Tale’ is a narrative I was given to illustrate about a misunderstood troll who is judged negatively for its appearance. The main selling point of the book is that the main character of the ‘hero’ is customisable in order to be more inclusive and minority ethinic children to experience representation of themselves growing up. I chose to use a muted colour palette with subtle pops of colour to make the spreads cohesive and used analogue methods to create texture to enchance the troll’s character and Scandanavian environment. The purpose of the 3rd key spread is for it to be interactive as an engaging element for children, so the idea is eyes are cut out and underneath you can see the whole village.
