  • Onna Wo Suteru
Onna Wo Suteru'Onna Wo Suteru' in Japan, is the social construct on 'giving up on being a woman', which puts pressure on Japanese women to look a certain way. I used this modern Japanese construct and combined it with the traditional concept of how women are negatively portrayed in Japanese folklore to create a scroll and narrative playing on these perceptions. The narrative follows a Japanese woman climbing up a mountain, with characters trying to prevent her from doing so, as this is something women in Japa
  • Soulmutts
SoulmuttsSoulmutts is a hypothetical campaign for an animal rescue charity as part of a final year university project to promote the adoption of rescue dogs. For this project my intention was to take a light-hearted and comedic approach as opposed to the sombre tones usually used in animal rescue campaigns to make the audience engage more with the content without using distressing imagery. The success of a mascot is determined by how the public repsonds so I made a focus group which allowed me to see which design had the best response. Jyabu-chan is the result of this character design based research.
  • For Sunshine.
For Sunshine.‘For Sunshine’ is a risograph zine created in response to a zine design brief titled ‘It’s All About You’. This zine is inspired by a trip to Tokyo, documenting the places we went, the things we experienced and the interesting characters we encountered. The main focus of the publication was character design and it’s aim was to act as one issue of a potential illustrated travel series.
  • Biophilia
