Al Othaim Mall

Based in the Rabwah region of Riyadh, Al Othaim Mall sets itself as a luxury retail destination for both residents and tourists distinctively located near a channel of riverbeds known as ‘Wadi’ commonly found in the middle-east and certain regions of the world such as Northern Africa. These riverbeds are dry by nature except during the rainy season becoming an oasis, temporarily used as areas of leisure and fun until the inevitable cycle of evaporation repeats itself. The site and its relation to the mall (as areas of recreation) sparked the idea to design a set of wayfinding products that visually connect with the retail space in both function and form; inspired by elements from the site’s chemical phenomena. The result was a modernised bespoke design that complements both the mall’s contemporary scheme as well as the site’s external natural environment both visually fused into one.
