Almost Poetic (Excerpt from Matters of Grey)

Elements of the work mirror the qualities of the communal kitchen. The recordings from the church and the mosque are of places that are shared places. Similar to the common kitchen. Individuals: come together in this place to engage in rituals and share something of themselves with each other. In this sense, the kitchen can be viewed as a sacred place. The intermingling of people from disparate background and cultures is represented in this piece. Through the use of five different languages. The voices allow the listener to experience these emotions like an overheard conversation.
Shown in a collaborative exhibition "A Random Piece of Someone" at the Tontine Building (GSA), November 2016.
