Alphabets of Humanity

  • Rohit Sharma

Imagine having no voice. Across the world, thousands of people have been forced to become refugees, fleeing for their lives from conflict and political oppression. Their stories are important, but it’s not just stories that get lost in translation. Alphabets of Humanity is a project designed to restore a sense of immediacy and origins to the stories told by immigrants and refugees, and to create an awareness of what is lost when people are unable to express their opinions and needs due to language limitations. Everyone deserves a voice. Through a set of bespoke typefaces, we offer a bridge between native expression and its translated form, bringing readers closer to ESL speakers by maintaining a visual inflection of the original language and culture of the speaker. These fonts are inspired by native typographies from around the world, from Arabic to Polish, Bengali to Thai, to create a vibrant and beautiful means of expression from around the world. Help the world speak.
