Back in the day, I used to write about women's rugby for specialist magazines like "Rugby World", "Rugby News", "First XV", "Rothmans Rugby Yearbook" and more. I was also Press Officer and co-organiser of the inaugural Women's Rugby World Cup, and Press Officer for the Women's Rugby Football Union.
However, I was never allowed to join the Rugby Union Writers Club because you had to make a majority of your income from rugby writing to become a member. And I had always made a loss from it.
Imagine my delight then at the Rugby Union Writers Club annual lunch yesterday when I got this beautiful tankard. What's more, I was handed it by former England rugby captain Sarah Hunter.
It was particularly rewarding to receive such warm peer recognition from the other rugby correspondents.
