‘ANA’ is a self-portraiture photographic and moving image body of work exploring the dark realities of the Hollywood stereotype of the housewife. The pressure of trying to become a perfect wife and mother can cause and bring up a great amount of trauma leading to a loss of identity, crippling mental health issues and a low sense of self. That feeling of not being able to fulfil an ideal which you have created in your head, creates a unique and very powerful emotion which I have portrayed in the work. I wanted to create a character (Ana) whom I would play throughout, who was a victim of the idea that she had failed as a woman, and as a result of this suffers greatly with the loss of identity, isolation, fear, paranoia, and deep routed trauma.
