Angela Buxton
Delighted to be a winner in the Colour Awards and feature in their winners book. I Photographed in her hotel room during the Wimbledon championships in 1956. She was the first British Jewish player to win a title at Wimbledon, overcoming prejudice to win the ladies doubles with Althea Gibson, the first black American woman to compete and to win at the tournament. A British newspaper ran the headline “Minorities win”.
