Depop was not created to be a fashion marketplace – it was created to be a community. Community at Depop has always meant realising our existence through the uniting thread of people. Peer-to-peer isn’t a business model, it’s a way to be. It’s the way we can create true and lasting change. The Asian Pacific Islander (API) and East and South East Asian (ESEA) communities are a meaningful part of the Depop community. Recently, these communities have been faced with an increased amount of violence, threats and discrimination, which has highlighted the inherent issues they face – in the US and globally. For API+ Heritage month with shared our platform with Writer Mimi Zhu and Fashion Journalist/Drag artist Andrew Nguyen to learn about community empowerment, connecting with grassroots movements and how to find courage in creativity.
