As part of the Documentary Practice module in my third year of university, I had to pitch, film and edit my own short documentary, amounting to around 5 minutes in length. I chose to base my documentary on an independently-owned, family run shop in the Morningside area of Edinburgh called Fool. The shop is owned and run by medical herbalist and astrologer Fern Sloan-Murphy, who inherited it from her father Brian, with help from her mother Sindy, who is the shop's in-house aura photographer. The shop has a reputation for being known as a "witch shop" and my aim was to investigate why this was and if there was any truth behind the rumours.
