ARRELS FOUNDATION: TRENDS RESEARCH PROJECT

  • Marcela Recinos
Arrels is an organization located in Barcelona which helps homeless people. This foundation has different areas such as the workshop “La Troballa”, which aims to provide ocupation to the people. This department will move its headquarters to a bigger space, so they want to relocate some other areas of support too.
For this reason, the development of the research project established the need of identifying possible scenarios that would contribute to define the proper functioning of the workshop, that guarantee the fulfillment of it’s objective of giving occupation, but most of all, to be able to accommodate and work according to the different user profiles in the foundation.
To respond to this challenge, and working along with an interdisciplinary team, we carried out an investigation which covered three main axes: to understand the operation of the workshop, to create empathy with the users, and the study of trends (coolhunting).

This was one of the projects that were developed during the Master in Research for design and innovation of the Elisava's school in Barcelona. The team in which I had the opportunity to work with was conformed by amazing people with different backgrounds and nationalities: Loreto, Jorge, Juan Sebastian, Alexandra, and me.
