Social media have the power to connect people from various backgrounds & from different parts of the world. However, finding genuine & resourceful connections when living in a big city like London may be difficult for those who want to work in the arts sector, if they don’t know where to start or feel their relationships are limited to their circle of colleagues and/or classmates.
That’s when Virginia Bianchi (@culturush) and I – two MA students who met through Instagram – decided to organise a series of networking events for creatives, with the first get together held on June 4th, 2019 and the second on September 25th, 2019 at Mercato Metropolitano in London.
On both occasions, we introduced participants to each other and involved them in various activities based on topics related to art (mainly modern & contemporary). We were overwhelmed by the turnout and met many incredible people with whom we have forged a bond and are still keeping in touch.
[The series is currently on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic but I truly hope we can get the chance to resume our meetings soon!]
