Artworkers Guild

  • Dan Smith
The Guild was founded in the 1880s by a group of leading architects in the Arts and Crafts movement with the aim to promote the highest standards of excellence in all of the applied arts and to bring together on an equal footing practitioners in many different fields. Past members have included the designer William Morris, typographer Edward Johnston, architect Sir Edwin Lutyens and architect and designer Charles Voysey.

The new site showcases the diversity of the Guilds’ current members through the use of modern photography, used at large scale, shot by photographers Graham Miller and Lara Platman. A streamlined user experience and an easy to use ‘Search for a Member’ function allows the public to interact and ultimately commission current members such landscape architect Jinny Blom, illustrators Angie Lewin and Rob Ryan, typographic artist Alan Kitching and and milliner Noel Stewart. There is also a facility to book rooms at the Guild’s hall in Queen Square, London which provides an important fund-raising source.
