"as i am" EP cover

Just completed a commission for singer-songwriter g.iirl for her upcoming EP "as i am". The client gave me much creative liberty, stating that all she wanted were grey-toned muted colours and for the title and her logo to be incorporated. The prompt was "sad flower", she also sent me the unreleased song to listen to. Upon my first listen I wrote down words that the song was making me feel, two of the words being "ethereal" and "yearning". These laid the groundwork for the aesthetic and vibe I wanted to channel in this piece. The client sent me an idea sketch of a flower with a sad face. After some initial sketches we decided on the flower being a water lily with a girl's face to evoke a sense of drowning and sadness, with the connotations of tears in water, complimented by the feminine beauty of the lily.
