Made with responsibly sourced eucalyptus tree fibre, this is one way in which Allbirds is able to lower its carbon footprint. They are best described as the ideal, light and breezy sneakers . Proceeds from the auction will be donated to the OR Foundation (@theorispresent), an amazing not-for-profit, whose work focuses on the social and environmental impacts of second hand clothing exported by the West to Ghana, including; the impact that this excess has on women working as Kayayei. The money raised will go towards the OR Foundation’s work to support the Kayayei women amidst the current Covid pandemic. Depending on how much is raised, we hope there might be enough to also support their long term goal of building a factory on the outskirts of Accra, which will repurpose second hand clothing and help redirect the excessive amount of textile waste sent to landfill in Ghana each year.
