Aura by Taitos, Gift Packaging with Aalto University, School of Arts, Design and Architecture

  • Ulla Uimonen

Taitos created a packaging solution with Aalto University, School of Arts, Design and Architecture for a gift to their major sponsors. The design direction was created by Markus Joutsela at Aalto. The actual gift is a Finnish rye bread, but hand blown from glass. Markus's idea about the inner part grid for the packaging got inspiration from a gridiron or a grid in an oven. It was possible to carve out the shape for the bread into the grid. You can check how this works from the photos below. The grid is essential for creating the right feel to the packaging. Sustainability and premium experience were major drivers. Therefore Aura by Taitos, our foldable and sustainable luxury packaging, was a perfect match to the project for its innovativeness, sustainability and high quality. Taitos created the detailed designs of the solution based on Markus's original ideas, and managed a small production run in Finland using Taitos's network of suppliers. All materials used for the packaging are 100% paper based and FSC-certified. These lovely companies supported the project by sponsoring material: ESKA (Black ESKA-board), Adara (brown corrugated E-flute).
