I'm a designer and a (heavy weight ;) professional in packaging design & development. I work with teams on packaging solutions that improve experiences, sustainability and efficiency.
I'm CEO and co-founder of Taitos.
From 1995-2016 I have been creating packaging solutions for mega-brands like Nokia & Microsoft. At Nokia I headed Global Packaging Design & R&D -team. During that time the team developed and implemented over 4 billion sales packages to global markets. At Microsoft I headed the Packaging Design and R&D -team for Microsoft Mobile.
Creating great experiences efficiently, championing sustainability and working in a global mode are elements that were important then and continue to be that in Taitos.

- Aura by Taitos, our next step is adding a thin layer of wood to the lidOur next step in developing Aura by Taitos, the flat travelling sustainable rigid box, is adding a thin layer of wood to the lid. When we structure the lid in a different way, we are able to add a thin layer of wood to the top surface. All other parts of the packaging remain as 100% recycled and FSC-certified paper. Paper remains to be 90% of the materials. Surprisingly the material on the top dominates the feeling about the package. With this thin layer of wood, the overall feel to the packa
- Visual flexibility of Aura by Taitos, a foldable and sustainable luxury packagingAura by Taitos is a sustainable luxury rigid package that travels and is stored in flat format. Top layer of the packaging is a paper adhesive, that can be digitally printed. Core of the packaging is a precisely v-grooved paper board, 100% recycled. Both materials are fsc-certified. The paper board has delicious colour options. Here are some examples created for one possible structure - just to raise your own creativity about the possibilities :)
- Aura by Taitos, Gift Packaging with Aalto University, School of Arts, Design and ArchitectureTaitos created a packaging solution with Aalto University, School of Arts, Design and Architecture for a gift to their major sponsors. The design direction was created by Markus Joutsela at Aalto. The actual gift is a Finnish rye bread, but hand blown from glass. Markus's idea about the inner part grid for the packaging got inspiration from a gridiron or a grid in an oven. It was possible to carve out the shape for the bread into the grid. You can check how this works from the photos below. Th
