Bailey's Peru

  • Mark Pattenden

This title by David Bailey originates from two fashion shoots on location in Peru – the first in 1971 for Vogue, the latter in 1984 for Tatler. Having been struck by the natural beauty of the people and places on these fashion assignments, Bailey set out to document people around the world in their natural habitats. Bailey’s Peru collects his photography from those visits, a mixture of landscape, fashion and portrait photography, showcasing Bailey’s immense and multi-faceted talents. In both colour and black and white, Bailey captures and celebrates the undeniable beauty of the land and its people.  Featuring an introduction by Grace Coddington, Creative Director for US Vogue, who accompanied Bailey on his first trip to Peru, an engaging essay by Jackie Higgins and text from Bailey himself.
