BASE

At the start of my final year of university, we were given the task to rebrand and decorate the new graphic design studio - my idea ended up being chosen by the year group to be implemented.

My concept took inspiration from the Ancient Chinese Tangram - tangrams are complex puzzles that can take a variety of forms, but the pieces always fit back together to create a cohesive whole. As graphic designers we all have various specialities, styles and tastes, but we all experience struggles and all have the same aim of making it through to graduation in one piece. All of these qualities combined come together to make up the eclectic mix of people that make up the whole of our course.

Base promotes a sense of camaraderie and collaboration as a space where students can go to work alongside fellow coursemates; to bounce ideas off, ask for advice, or simply for a chat to take their mind off the stresses of work. The theme of the tangram was used throughout the space and the idents are inspired by various objects in the room.
